![]() The orange light in the spectrum is avarice. The red energy is opposite to the violet energy of love. Atrocitus uses the Red Lantern Corps to punish the Guardians of the Universe for their murder of space sector 666 and most Red Lanterns don't get the revenge that the red light would promise them. The only reason Atrocitus is able to function is that he uses magic to affect the ring's hold on him. The power of rage is so corrupting that it clouds the Red Lantern's mind. The Red Lanterns, in theory, exist to punish personal crimes with extreme prejudice through the power of rage but it doesn't quite work like that. He sacrificed the other 4 survivors blood to create the first Red Lantern Power Battery. So much so, that he was able to harness the red light. Atrocitus was one of 5 survivors and felt extreme levels of rage within his heart. ![]() The Red Lantern Corps formed when the the entirety of space sector 666 (Atrocitus's home sector) was murdered by the Manhunters, the robotic police force used before the Guardians of the Universe invented the Green Lantern Corps. It is harnessed by the Red Lantern Corps which is led by Atrocitus, also known as Atros of Ryut. This includes all forms of frustration and anger as well. The red energy of the spectrum represents the force of rage. I'll start with one end of the spectrum and work my way around I guess. If a creature takes something it doesn't have to, it emits the orange energy of avarice and so on for the different emotions. If a creature kills something it doesn't have to, it emits the red energy of rage. The EEES is literally the energy resonated by all living things. It was splintered into the seven colors of the rainbow and also the seven colored lights of the Electromagnetic Emotional Energy Spectrum (EEES). The white light won out but not without sacrifice. The black light of destruction wanted its place in the universe back and so it and the white light fought. ![]() And then, the white light of creation expanded on the universe and made everything.
